Pastor Tarkar and some of the kids in the VOA community. These are the houses the kids are sleeping in presently. Notice the feed sacks and tarps on the roof to help keep out the rain. This is the result of 14 years of war. Liberia is one of the three most desperate nations on our planet and the children are the ultimate victims of nearly a generation of strife in their country. Pastor will be bringing the first ten children to the new children's home Wednesday the 5th. I will post photos of their home coming soon. If you'd like a copy of a dvd of the kids I will gladly send one to you. Just send me an email at cindyharper.realtor@yahoo.com.
Most of the items needed for the first children have been purchased. Such as tooth paste, tooth brushes, soap, towels, etc. Also, large pots for cooking, 50# of rice, and 2 foam mattress, 2 coal pots to cook on, mosquito nets to prevent malaria and will also be purchasing bunk beds from a local carpenter in Liberia soon.

Pastor Tarkar and the church

Photos are of Pastor Tarkar S Wreh and his church (World Liberation Evangelistic Ministries). The church will be celebrating it's 1st anniversary in Dec. 2008. Although he has been preaching for several years at another church. Tarkar has completely dedicated his life to the work of God. He and his wife Martha will be the care takers of the new children's home. They have one daughter (Blessing 9 yrs old) who I will tell you more about later. They have also taken in another little girl (Marie 8 yrs old). Her father is dead and she doesn't know her mother. So, she doesn't know her last name. More about her later too.

These pictures were taken during a visit to a community called VOA (Voice of America) in Liberia. The children are orphans due to many years of war in their country. Most of them are living in shacks with dirt floors and leaky roofs. There is no electricity or running water. The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness of the situation in Liberia at the present time. I am working with Pastor Tarkar S. Wreh and his wife Martha who are the senior pastors of World Liberation Evangelistic Ministries in Liberia. We have just rented a house to start a children's home. There are many children needing help. We will be starting out with ten children. And as God provides we will take in more.
